New Delhi, May 7, 2025 – The NEET UG 2025 examination, held nationwide on May 5, concluded successfully with over 24 lakh aspirants competing for admission into undergraduate medical courses across India. As students exit exam halls and coaching experts begin analysis, early reactions suggest that Physics posed the greatest challenge among all subjects this year.
Physics: A Stiff Test of Conceptual Clarity
Many students and educators have rated the Physics section as the toughest component of NEET 2025. Unlike previous years, where the paper leaned more on theory-based questions, this year’s Physics section was numerically intensive and concept-heavy.
Topics like Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, and Electrodynamics dominated the paper, with many questions requiring multi-step problem solving. Students reported that even seemingly direct problems were time-consuming and demanded precise formula application and in-depth understanding.
“The Physics paper was more like JEE Main level. I couldn’t attempt all questions in time,” said Ananya Sharma, a Class 12 student from Delhi.
Chemistry: Balanced But Slightly Tricky
The Chemistry section offered a moderate level of difficulty, according to most test-takers. The paper maintained a fair distribution between Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry.
While many questions were directly NCERT-based, several required careful reading and understanding of reaction mechanisms and application of theory to unfamiliar contexts. Students who focused on NCERT and practiced previous years’ papers found the section manageable but a bit tricky in parts.
Biology: Lengthy Yet Scoring
As expected, Biology remained the most approachable section, though it was relatively lengthy this year. The majority of the questions were straightforward and NCERT-aligned, but the volume of questions meant that students had to manage time carefully.
Topics from Human Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, and Biotechnology featured heavily. While the content wasn’t considered particularly difficult, the paper’s length put pressure on students during the latter half of the exam.
“I found Biology to be my strength, but even that took more time than I expected,” commented Pratik Meena, a NEET aspirant from Rajasthan.
Overall Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
The overall paper was classified as moderate to difficult, with the Physics section significantly increasing the toughness level. Students who had practiced a variety of numerical problems and strengthened their fundamentals were at an advantage.
Expected Cut-Off Trends
With the Physics section acting as a hurdle for many, experts suggest that the NEET UG 2025 cut-offs may drop slightly compared to 2024. However, Biology’s relative ease might balance the effect.
The cut-off will also depend on post-exam normalization and the performance curve of all candidates. Official answer keys and response sheets are expected to be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) within the next 7–10 days.
Final Thoughts
NEET UG 2025 has once again highlighted the need for balanced preparation across all subjects and the ability to handle time pressure. While Biology remained mostly predictable, the Physics section challenged even well-prepared students, reinforcing the importance of deep conceptual understanding and time management.
